A late second half goal by Rachel Rountree clinched a 1-0 win over Gloucester City for Trojans Ladies, who look set for a top five finish in the National League Women’s Western Conference. She scored six minutes from the end to climax a successful day for the Stoneham girls whose second team beat Guildford 2-1 to maintain their South League Division 3 B promotion bid. Sue Merry scored twice as Southampton produced arguably their best performance of the season in beating local South Women’s League Division 3B rivals Fareham 3-2. Lifted by an early strike by Charlotte Ayres, Southampton led 2-0 at half-time with Merry scoring the first of her brace following a short corner. Rebecca Reavell got Fareham back in the game shortly after half-time, but Merry’s second goal, created by Lou Hopkins, effectively ended the contest. Reavell responded with a short corner second for Fareham, but it came too late.
