Ben Cowling has left Havant and join Winchester and boost the city club’s South Premier One goalkeeping options. He made a fine debut in last week’s 2-1 loss to Old Edwardians.
Havant chairman Chris Picket explained: “Ben could not commit to playing regularly last season due to his training/work commitments. As a result we used Tomas Santiago for the first half of last season and Chris Bristow for the second half.
Chris came out of retirement to help us out and has continued playing in our West Conference side..
“Ben felt it would be difficult to force his way back into 1st XI contention, especially as his work meant he could not play in all games. He now lives closer to Winchester than Havant and playing on Saturdays is easier for him to work round his other commitments.
Mr Picket added: “We were very sorry to see him leave and he has reservations but on balance it is within his best interests and he can now play 1st XI rather than play in out 2nd XI or below.
