4/17/2018 0 Comments Wilkinson's sword fells Fareham![]() Adrian Wilkinson, pictured, blew the cobwebs off his hockey stick to score a spectacular second half hat-trick and send Winchester II into the Hampshire Open League Cup final. The former England wingman, capped while playing national league hockey for Havant and Guildford, seldom plays these days. But he made quite an impact for Winchester after semi-final opponents Fareham II had clawed back a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 at Henry Cort. Winchester saw their 2-0 lead from a disputed Greg Cox opener and Stuart Swift’s penalty stroke whisked away by strikes from Fareham pair George Davey and Luke Gould. Wilkinson restored Winchester’s lead on the hour-mark and then, after teen Fergus Jackson had come within inches of making it 3-3, turned the clock back a decade with a blistering shot which arrowed into the top right-hand corner. He went on to complete his hat-trick as Winchester clinched a cup final showdown with Andover with a 5-2 win.
