10/12/2020 0 Comments Trojans girls hang on to grab win![]() Amy Sheehan scored Trojans opening goal and set up a second for Amelia Andrew as the Stoneham girls beat Surbiton 2-1 to record their first England Hockey Women’s National South victory. But it needed a brilliant late save by the club’s new Canadian goalkeeper Marcia La Plante (pictured) to deny the Surrey visitors a draw. Sheehan opened Trojans account in the sixth Amy minute before firing in a subsequent penalty corner shot which Andrew deflected in at the far post. Trojans turned round 2-0 ahead, but spent much of the second period on the back foot once Hannah Denison had clawed a goal back for Surbiton five minutes after the break. But they held out, thanks to one brilliant save with an fully outstretched arm by La Plante and a stick save under the crossbar by Lauren Anning.
