2/13/2017 0 Comments STUART TOO SWIFT FOR ROMSEYWinchester II shook off the effects of conceding an early Dan Miles penalty corner before a Stuart Swift brace enabled them to win a feisty Hampshire/Surrey Regional Division 2 derby 2-1.
Bottom of the pile and desperate for a victory, Romsey were fired up at the start and got their just rewards through Miles, who twice hit the woodwork from subsequent penalty corners. Winchester took a long while to get a foothold in the game, but eventually equalised when Ed Player fired a pass from midfield which the eagle eyed Swift deflected into the top corner. Six players saw yellow as passions rose and Winchester began building pressure. Late on the pressure began to tell, with Goodchild and Rob Ritchie close before Swift followed up on a drag flick to grab Winchester’s winner.
