Southampton ladies lost their unbeaten South Women’s League Division 3B tag when Guildford beat them 3-2 at Broadwater.
With Guildford scoring with their opening attack, Southampton were chasing the game from the start, but a Sue Merry penalty stroke got them back on level terms. Southampton suffered a spate of ill-timed injuries before Guildford restored a 2-1 interval lead – an advantage which Lauren Carter wiped out, only for the Surrey side to get the winner before the end. Winless Fareham wasted numerous chances before losing 2-1 to Tulse Hill & Dulwich and will need to win at basement side Worthing on Saturday to stave off being bottom.
