Hampshire clubs occupy the top three places in South Women’s League Division 3B, with Havant moving into second place behind leaders Fareham after a 4-2 win over Southampton.
Southampton twice came from behind to equalize, but were eventually unable to wipe out the two second half goals which gave Havant a fourth win in five matches. The sides exchanged first half penalty corner conversions – Charlotte Gammon for Havant and Lauren Gunner equalizing for the visitors – before Gammon sliced Southampton open again. Zoe Stride then made it 2-2 with her eighth goal of the season. But there was no coming back a third time for Southampton, as goals by Emily ? and Poppy Herbert gave Havant a 4-2 win. Heather Batten and Vicky Field scored twice each as Fareham trimmed Aldershot & Farnham 4-0 to give their confidence a boost ahead of Saturday’s high noon Sports Centre showdown against Southampton. Promoted Winchester slapped Tulse Hill & Dulwich 5-1.
