10/5/2018 0 Comments HAVANT SECONDS OUT-GUN WINCHWinchester seconds were outgunned 4-2 by their better prepared Havant visitors, who will want to bounce back to Hampshire/Surrey Regional Division 1 after last season’s relegation.
The city side went behind to an early goal as a hopeful pass found its way through a crowded defence to a waiting Havant forward. Ten minutes later, Rob Goodchild stepped up to send a low penalty corner drag-flick into the corner to level matters. One or two more first half chances fell to Winchester, but the visitors were the dominant force and retook the lead just before half time. A deft, far post deflection saw Havant increase their lead soon after the break and then take it to 4-1 soon after from a rasping drag-flick. With ten minutes remaining, Greg Wilkins gave Winchester a ray of hope with a penalty corner effort to bring it to a two goal difference but, despite attacking intent, Havant's goal was not threatened further.
