10/28/2020 0 Comments Fareham ladies pay the penaltiesFareham ladies conceded two late penalties to suffer a 2-0 defeat at South Women's League Division 2 rivals East Grinstead - coach Steve Lemon's side once again being weakened by injuries and unavailability.
East Grinstead looked slightly the better side early on and it took some stubborn defending and good saves from Jilly Tovey to preserve a goal-less first half. Fareham had more purpose after the break and at their solitary penalty corner, Sky Sian Edwards dished up a blocked shot, the rebound from which Lydia Jackson slid just wide. It remained goalless until 13 minutes from time when Fareham, stunned by the decision, conceded a stroke and JoJo Davis, once of Trojans, tucked it away. Six minutes from time the Bajan striker repeated the dose to send Fareham home pointless. It's tough this Saturday (11.45) with second placed PHC Chiswick visiting Henry Cort.
