3/13/2018 0 Comments Cricket ace short corners leadersHursley Park and Hampshire ladies cricket ace Sian Edwards converted two penalty corners as Fareham ladies pulled off arguably their best ever win in the South Women’s League, bowling Wanderers off the top of the Division 3B table with a 3-2 victory at Henry Cort.
Fareham fell behind to an early Jessica Cramp short corner for Wanderers, but scored twice in five minutes later in the first half through Vicky Field and Edwards to take a 2-1 interval lead. Wanderers levelled the scores, again from a Cramp set-piece, but Fareham snatched victory with Edwards scoring her second four minutes from time. Southampton ladies are eyeing a potential top three Division 3B finish after beating Horsham 4-1 – the game being all but done and dusted by half-time. They made a near perfect start with Bernie Jones converting an early short corner, while increased pressure and fluent passing led to two more Sue Merry goals before half-time. Southampton’s three-goal buffer led to complacency in the ranks and Horsham pulled one back before Lou Hopkins wrapped things up. * Southampton are staging a ‘back to hockey’ event, ideal for people who have never played before, at the Sports Centre on Tuesday evenings (6-7.30pm) from April 3 to 24.
