Chichester were always playing catch-up after falling two goals behind at half-time, but produced a determined second half comeback before conceding a 3-2 defeat to Cardiff & Met in the only Western Conference match to survive the icy conditions.
Cardiff, who included ‘on loan’ Fareham prospect Will Raymond in their ranks, took an early lead through Jack Pritchard and doubled it on the break through Ieuan Davies. Alex Baxter converted a 50th minute penalty corner to put Chichester back in it, but Callum Mackenzie restored Cardiff’s two-goal lead soon after. Another short corner conversion, this time by Alex Messenger, on the hour mark set up a tense finish. Fareham’s visit to Team Bath (now February 16) was iced off, as was Trojans’ ladies fixture at Stourport. Trojans and Winchester men were similarly frozen out.
