Bournemouth Boys are through to the final of next month’s England Boys Under-18 Championships after a thrilling 4-1 win over Leek at Chapel Gate. They produced a stirring second half performance to beat their Staffordshire visitors and clinch a cup final showdown with Marlow at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on May 12. Bournemouth, who had beaten Clifton Robinsons 7-1, Havant 3-2, Plymouth Marjon 4-2 and Winchester 3-1 to reach the semi-final, changed round 1-1 at half-time, with goalkeeper Jess Baker making several important saves before being beaten by a Leek penalty corner strike that equalised Richie Steavenson’s opener. Bournemouth regained the lead with a superb reverse stick shot from Harry Pickard that arrowed into the top corner. As Leek pushed forward in search of an equaliser, Bournemouth struck twice on the counter with Steavenson scoring his second before setting up George Baugniet to score the fourth cup final clinching goal. * Bournemouth face Havant in the Hampshire Boys Under-18 Cup final at Aldershot on May 7.
