10/10/2018 0 Comments Bernie's late Southampton winnerBernie Jones scored three minutes from time to give Southampton a dramatic 2-1 win over promoted Haslemere – a result which enables them to share joint top spot alongside Eastbourne in the embryo South Women’s League Division 3B table.
Southampton initially took the lead through Nat Romain from a well worked penalty corner, but the lead was short lived as Haslemere equalised three minutes later. The game seemed destined for a draw until Ros Wellington muscled their way through the visitors’ defence to set up Jones for Southampton’s late winner. Fareham were held to a 1-1 draw at Aldershot & Farnham.
