WINCHESTER'S COUNTY U18 CUP WIN

Picture
Liam O’Sullivan notched a hat-trick as Winchester Boys, pictured, went on a scoring spree either side of half-time to beat Bournemouth 6-4 in the Hampshire Under-18 Cup final.
Toby Lelliott put Winchester ahead but Henry Mihall, who went on to score all of Bournemouth’s goals, levelled for the Dorset side. A slick reverse stick shot by Scott Rawlings and a scrambled third by O’Sullivan gave Winchester a 3-1 interval lead, which the pair improved with a goal each soon after the break. At 5-1 up, Winchester switched goalkeepers.  Mihall cashed in with three goals for Bournemouth, but by then O’Sullivan’s own hat-trick goal had effectively sealed their fate.

WINCHESTER II HIT BACK TO WIN CUP

Picture
Winchester seconds came from 3-1 down to beat Haslemere 4-3 in a Hampshire Hockey Trophy final thriller at the Army Garrison ground, Aldershot.
Adam Major fired Winchester ahead, but an equaliser by Julian Connolly and two goals either side of half-time gave Haslemere a clear advantage.
But the Surrey club, whose first team had won the English Hockey Vase at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park the previous day, were rocked by a stunning Winchester comeback.
The evergreen Andy Winnett lit the touch paper with a second and soon after teenager Matt Cole wriggled his way through to set up Scott Rawlins to make it 3-3.
Major’s sweet reverse stick strike then won the match – and the cup – for double winning Winchester, who also won the Hampshire League championship this season.
